Four Cameroonian Actors Have Been Nominated For SOTIGUI Award.

Four Cameroonian actors have been nominated for SOTIGUI Award. Faith Fidel and 3 other Cameroonian actors who were nominated for the SOTIGUI Awards have placed the country on the international map.

These four Cameroonian actors were nominated out of 38 from across different African countries. The award has been slated to take place in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou, from November 11th to 13th 2021

Launched in 2015, Sotigui Awards is an initiative of the Academy of Sotigui, African Cinematographic Arts, and the Diaspora. It works in partnership with FESPACO. This event aims to contribute to the glory and enhancement of the profession of African actors and comedians.

This year’s edition of the SOTIGUI Awards will be held under the banner “Status of the Artist and Fair Remuneration of actors and actresses of African cinema and the diaspora.”

The four Cameroonian actors nominated for the SOTIGUI Award are; Eshu Rigobert Tamwa, Emy Dany Bassong, Merveille Akamba, and Faith Fidel. Also, they were placed under separate award categories.

The Academy of African and Diasporan Cinematographic Arts released the lists of the nominees. In other words, this academy is in charge of the Organization of the SOTIGUI Awards.

The categories under which the four Cameroonian actors have been nominated are: Firstly, Eshu Rigobert represented Best Male Actor in Africa. As a result of his role as Mr. Mbarga in the Cameroon series “Madame… Monsieur.” Similarly, Emy Danny Bassong has been nominated under the Best Female Actress category. Following for her role in the same series. Meanwhile, Merveille Akamba is under the category for Best Central African Actor. This is thanks to his performance in the Cameroonian Movie, “Bendskin.”

Most importantly, Faith Fidel has been nominated as Best African Hope. After her extraordinary performance as Ekah, in the International hit movie “The Fisherman’s Diary.”  

The winners of the Awards as elaborated will be gotten by votes. Which as disclosed by former SOTIGUI winner François Akouabou, will begin on September 15th on the SOTIGUI Awards page.
